School Child Protection Policy

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS AND BEHAVIORAL POLICIES

          

  Calikid Norte Elementary adopts various legal Be of the DepEd regarding school, policies, rules, and regulations pertaining to the discipline of the learners.

Unnecessary talks and movements inside the classroom are not allowed. While in class, nobody is allowed to go out of the room unless for very valid reasons. Toileting should only be done in between periods or during recess time.

In the Classroom

A teacher while lecturing or talking should not be disturbed by any visitor. Likewise, on-going classes should not be interrupted.

 

  1. FLAG CEREMONY

Flag ceremony is conducted every Monday at 7:30 at the gymnasium. Attendance is required to all teachers and students.

Flag retreat is held on Fridays at 4:30 pm. Likewise, those teachers and students with last period classes are required to attend.

 

  1. PRAYERS

Class prayer should only be done before the first period begins and after the last period ends.

 

  1. LOITERING

Loitering in the corridor during class hours is not allowed. Remember that each class deserves privacy. Stay inside the classroom.

 

  1. OFFICE COURTESY

When you need anything in the office or you need to talk to anybody, approach the principal or the OIC.


 

  1. BEHAVIOR IN ASSEMBLING AND SOCIAL GATHERING

You are required to attend all school activities. Inform your adviser in case you cannot attend. Observe punctuality and cleanliness. Applaud courteously. Do not leave until the program is over.

 

  1. WEARING OF IDENTIFICATION CARDS

All students and teachers are always required to wear their identification cards while inside the campus.

 

  1. SCHOOL UNIFORM

For identification and neatness, a school uniform shall be prescribed for all pupils. Shoes are considered part of the uniform. However, parents have discretion to disallow their children to wear prescribed uniform.

Boys uniform: brown shorts/pants and white shirt

Girls uniform: White blouse and blue skirt

PE uniform: to be worn on Fridays.

 

  1. HAIRSTYLES/HAIRCUT

The acceptable haircut for boys shall be at least one inch above the ear and three inches above the collar line.

 

  1. TATTOING is not allowed for girls and boys.

 

  1. USE OR POSSESION OF PROHIBITED RUGS IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED

 

A student caught in possession of or using prohibited drugs will be right away surrendered to military officials and shall be penalized in accordance with the provisions of the Dangerous Drug Act.

 


 

 

  1. ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY

L1.1 Regularity of attendance and punctuality are required in all classes. A pupil/student who has been absent or has cut classes is required to present a letter of explanation from his/her parents/ guardian to bring them to school for a short conference with the section adviser or guidance counselor as the case may be.

L1.2 Attendance of pupil/students in special holidays, activities relative to their religions, e.g. Ramadan, shall allowed provided permission of the school head is sought.

L1.3 Absences. A pupil/student who incurs absences of more than twenty percent of the prescribed number of class or laboratory periods during the school year or term should be given failing grade and given no credit for the course or subject. Furthermore, the school head may at his/her discretion and in the individual case exempt a student who exceeds the twenty percent limit for reasons considered valid and acceptable to the school “Such discretion shall not excuse the student concerned from the responsibility in keeping up with lesson assignments and taking examinations where indicated. The discretionary authority is vested in the school head and may not be availed of by a student nor granted by a faculty member without consent of the school head.

L1.4 Habitual tardiness especially during the first period in the morning and in the afternoon shall not be allowed. Teachers concerned shall call for the parents of the student concerned or visit him at home.

 

  1. IMPOSITION OF DISCIPLINARY ACTION

M1.1 School officials and teachers shall have the right to impose appropriate and reasonable disciplinary measure in case of minor offenses or infractions of good discipline.

However, no cruel or physically harmful punishment shall be imposed or applied against any pupil or student.

M1.2 Suspension/Expulsion (Sections 151-145 Pam VI Chapter III. Service Manual 1960)

  • For first and other offenses which are not very serious nature, a suspension from school not to exceed three (3) days may be authorized by the principal without prior approval of the Division Superintendent. However, parents must be informed by the teacher or the school principal of any misconduct on the part of their children for which disciplinary action is necessary.

  • For persistent offender or one guilty o a serious offense, a suspension for not more than one (1) year may be imposed subject to the approval of the Division Superintendent.

  • Suspension for a school year or more, or expulsion from school can be ordered only by the Secretary.

  • In all cases of suspension, a written promise of future exemplary conduct signed by the pupil/student and countersign by his parents or guardian shall be required as a condition for readmission and must be required in the case of suspension for more than three (3) days.

  • Offenses punishable by suspension or expulsion depending on the seriousness of the offense.

  • Gross misconduct

  • Cheating and stealing

  • Assaulting a teacher or any other school authority or his agents or students

  • Smoking inside the school premises

  • Vandalism, writing on or destroying school property like chairs, tables, windows, books, laboratory equipment and others.

  • Gambling of any sort

  • Drinking intoxicants and liquor

  • Carrying and concealing deadly weapons

  • Extortion or asking money from others

  • Fighting, causing injury to others

  • Using, possessing, and selling of prohibited drugs

  • Hazing in any form or manner whether inside or outside the school premises

  • Immorality/sexual harassment

  • Instigating, leading or participating in concerted activities leading to stoppage of classes

  • Preventing, threatening students or faculty members or school authorities from discharging their duties or from attending classes or entering school premises.

  • Forging or tampering with school records or transfer forms.

  • The use of corporal punishment by teachers (slapping, jerking, or pushing pupils/students about) imposing manual work or degrading tasks as penalty, meeting out cruel and unusual punishment of any nature, holding up a pupil/student to unnecessary ridicule, the use of epithets and expressions tending to destroy the pupil/student’s self-respect and the permanent confiscation of the personal property of pupil/students are forbidden.


 

 

  1. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(School Head, Teachers, Student Leaders)

 

SCHOOLS

            The School Heads shall have the following duties and responsibilities:

  1. Ensure the institution of effective child protection policies and procedures, and monitor compliance thereof;

  2. Ensure that the school adopts a child protection policy;

  3. Ensure that all pupils, students or learners school personnel, parents, guardians or custodians, and visitors and guests are made aware of child protection policy;

  4. Organize and convene the Childe Protection Committee for the school;

  5. Conduct the capacity building activities for the member of the Child Protection Committee and Guidance Counselors/Teachers;

  6. Conduct disciplinary proceedings in cases of offenses committed by pupils, students or learners;

  7. Ensure that the participatory and other rights of children are respected and held in all matters and procedures affecting their welfare;

  8. Maintain a record of all proceedings related to bullying or peer abuse and submit after each school year to the Division Office the report and a copy of the intake form;

  9. Conduct the appropriate training and capability building activities on child protection measures and protocols;

  10. Ensure that the school adopts a student Code of Conduct to be followed by every pupil, student or learner while on school grounds, or when travelling to and from school, or during a school sponsored activity, and during lunch period, whether on or off campus;

  11. Adopt such conflict resolution mechanisms that respect the rights of indigenous peoples, provided that they conform to the Department Order and they uphold the rights of the child;

  12. Coordinate with the appropriate assistance an intervention may be required in the performance of its functions;

  13. Coordinate with the Department of Social Welfare and Development or, the appropriate government agencies or non-governmental organizations on a Child Protection Hotline for reporting abuse, violence, exploitation, discrimination, bullying and other similar acts and for counseling.

  14. Ensure that all incidents of abuse, violence, exploitation, discrimination, bullying and other similar acts are addressed in accordance with the provisions of the Department Order.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF SCHOOL PERSONNEL

Article 218 of the Family Code of the Philippines provides the following responsibilities of school administrators, teachers, academic and non-academic, and other personnel;

  1. Exercise special parental authority and responsibility over the child while under their supervision, instruction and custody. Authority and responsibility shall apply to all authorize activities whether inside or outside the premises of the school, entity or instruction.

Articles 220 and 233 of the Family Code of the Philippines, Presidential Decree No. 603, and other related laws enumerated the following duties and responsibilities of the above-mentioned persons and personnel over the children under their supervision instruction and custody.

  1. Keep them in their company and support, educate and instruct them by right precept and good example;

  2. Give them love and affection, advice and counsel, companionship and understanding;

  3. Enhance, protect, preserve and maintain their physical and mental health at all times;

  4. Furnish them with good and whole some educational materials, supervise their activities, recreation and association with others, protect them from bad company and prevent them from acquiring habits detrimental to their health, studies and morals;

  5. Represent them in all matters affecting their interests;

  6. Inculcate the value of respect and obedience;

  7. Practice positive and non-violent discipline, as may be required under the circumstances provided, that in no case shall corporal punishment be inflicted upon them;

  8. Perform such other duties as are imposed by law upon them as substitute parents or guardians; and

  9. School personnel shall also strictly comply with the school child protection policy.


 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PUPILS, STUDENTS AND LEARNERS

Pupils, students and learners shall have the following duties and responsibilities:

  1. Comply with the school regulations, as long as they in harmony with their best interests. Pupils, students and learners shall refrain from:

    1. Engaging in discrimination, or leading a group of pupils or students to discriminate another, with reference to one’s physical appearance, weaknesses and status of any sort;

    2. Doing any act that is inappropriate or sexually provocative;

    3. Participating in behavior of other students that is illegal, unsafe or abusive;

    4. Marking or damaging school property, including books, in any way;

    5. Engaging in fights or any aggressive behavior;

    6. Introducing into the school premises or otherwise possessing prohibited articles, such as deadly weapon, drugs, alcohol, toxic and noxious substances, cigarettes and pornographic material; and

    7. Performing other similar acts that cause damage or injury to another.

 

An allegation that any of these acts has been committed shall not be used to curtail the child’s basic rights, or interpreted to defeat the objectives of the Department Order.

 

  1. Conduct themselves in accordance with their levels of development, maturity, and demonstrated capabilities, with a proper regard for the rights and welfare of other persons;

  2. Respect another person’s rights regardless of opinion, status, gender, ethnicity, religion, as well as everyone’s moral and physical integrity, and

Observe the Code of Conduct for pupils, students and learners.
